David Torrence is a Licensed Financial Professional and Partner with Charlotte Legacy Group, dedicated to helping individuals and families gain clarity, confidence, and direction in their financial lives. With nearly ten years of financial services experience, he works closely with clients to understand their full financial picture, establish meaningful goals, and implement practical strategies that support long-term stability and growth.
Before entering financial services, David served 21 years in the United States Air Force, concluding his career as a Public Affairs Supervisor for installations in the United States and abroad. In this role, he managed internal communications, external media relations, and community engagement initiatives. His military career laid the foundation for his leadership style—centered on accountability, preparation, and trust.
Following his military service, David spent more than 20 years in media and advertising, including serving as General Sales Manager for CBS Radio in Charlotte and as a business owner. He later transitioned into financial services, where he became a Licensed Financial Professional and was appointed as a Corporate Partner with New York Life, reflecting his leadership, experience, and commitment to client service.
David has been recognized as a New York Life Executive Council* Agent for two years and received the African-American Marketing Unit Gold Award in both 2020 and 2021 for work focused on creating financial stability, economic opportunity, and multigenerational wealth.
David is actively engaged in his community. He previously served on the Board of SWIPE, a nonprofit dedicated to identifying college-eligible students within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System who need financial support, as well as supporting families during the holiday season. While no longer serving on the board, he continues to support the organization financially. David also supports Renaissance West of Charlotte and is involved in a prostate cancer support group.
David shared more than 60 years of friendship and partnership with his late wife, Saundra Torrence, and is the proud father of two sons. He enjoys golf and reading—particularly books and documentaries focused on historical events—and believes integrity is demonstrated through follow-through and accountability.
